I started doing friends' hair in Noosa Junction in 1986 while still at school (Noosa District State High School). And began my apprenticeship in 1987 under Mickey at Hair Action in Arcadia Street. Mickey was a great mentor and got me winning some medals.
In 1989 I went across the road to Hair For Men to work with Jane - next door to Bruno Benz the watchmaker and amazing musician. More great lessons in life and barbering, more good times.
My mates and I had a band. We were called The Shed Men, and The Shakin' Quavers. We were getting a lot of gigs - Jane could count the times I was on time for work on one hand.
One of our coolest band memories is supporting Sleepy La Beef. One of my Mum's is us supporting The Ted Mulry Gang (Jump in my car). Lugging Ted's old school PA up the stairs of the Melbourne Hotel at West End was character building.
Music has taken me and mates to many great places in Australia and the world. Thousands of amazing musicians and characters met.

Back to barberworld - from 2014 to 2021 I barbered part time at Captain Sip Sops with legends Malakai, Jimbo, Tyler, Zac, Johnny Barberista and Luke - soaking in Thomas Surfboards vibes and Allpress coffee - more good times.
Most recently I've been working part-time at Cooroy Barbers with Graham and Krystal and alongside the Fox and Hound greats. I cannot wait for Graham and Krystal's podcast to be released. It will crush.
My friend Lew offered me this little shop (at 44 Maple Street, Cooroy). I couldn't resist. I've never had my own shop before.
I stupidly turned down my Dad's offer to have a shop in what is now the Eumundi Emporium when he owned it as Eumundi Hardware and Produce back in the day...
But Rock and roll was calling, the blues kept raining and the Gospel saved my soul... song incoming.
